I noticed over the last several days on my drive along US-131 and M-32 to Gaylord that my favorite color scheme (orange and red with some green mixed in) is beginning to come about. Looking at the The Foliage Network, the colors are beginning to start to look more impressive. It won’t be long now.

The weather looks like this since I last wrote:

Temperatures for the weekend will start off in the 60s on Friday and make their way in the lower to mid 70s by Sunday.

The weather should remain dry for northern lower Michigan. The upper peninsula is another matter. It looks like a warm front moves through the upper peninsula and brings rain showers for Saturday night and Sunday. So getting outdoors may not the best thing. I will say that it looks like any rain that falls will be pretty light. So the leaves won’t fall off just yet and since color tours are done in the car, the rain won’t be hard enough to obscure the leaves through the windshield. Hiking in the forests will be a bit damp however.

As I write this, I just remembered another activity, watching football on Friday night and Saturday afternoon. As far as that is concerned, it will be cool for the games requiring a jacket by the end on Friday night. No rain however, so the high school games should be enjoyable.

I know that I am getting a jump on this next weekend. The best reason is this, it is officially fall and the color tour will begin in the next few weeks. I was especially enthused when I ran across this web page. The unfortunate part is that there is no RSS feed on it, so I’ll provide the link on the right and try to keep up with it over the next few weeks.

So the forecast weatherwise looks like this:

All three days will be near normal, and for northern Michigan the high temperatures are in the lower to mid 60s and the lows are in the lower to mid 40s. No rain is expected at this point, although late Sunday night there could be some rain showers with an approaching front. However, this all being about 5-7 days out this forecast is subject to change.
