Weather Story From Thursday

Weather Story From Thursday

As the NWS Gaylord office says, “Series of cold fronts continue below normal temperatures.” How true this looks for the weekend.

Of course, the temperatures will remain in the 70s through the weekend, but that is still below normal.  The good news is that it won’t rain the entire weekend. Just off and on. It won’t be terrible to be outside this weekend with the temperatures and rain, just be prepared for any weather.  So here is how it looks…

Friday

High pressure builds into the Great Lakes and leaves us with lower 70s for high temperatures. The cold air and clouds from the front Thursday night will be the only thing stopping us from having a warm day. Friday night, looks mild though as the warm air in front of the cold front will keep temperatures from falling too far.

Saturday

The cold front is on the doorstep of Lake Michigan so probably rain in the afternoon, as the front goes through, and at this point it doesn’t look like severe weather. SPC has the action outside the Great Lakes. Because of the warming ahead of the front, it looks like that temperatures will be in the mid to upper 70s. At this point, I would expect scattered showers overnight as this season has shown us.

Sunday

The showers for now look like they will be around in the morning, but the high pressure should build into the western Great Lakes allowing the rain to clear. Not sure about the clouds yet. High temperatures will fall again into the lower 70s across northern lower and eastern upper Michigan.

Outlook

The 8-14 day outlook done by CPC is one of the same broken record. Normal to Below Normal temperatures and below normal preipitation. Much like the last few weekends. Not completely wet, but not completely dry. So the next weekend looks like much the same. I hope there will be pattern chang soon for the warmer.

Due to scheduling, I’m hoping to get the forecast and podcast out late tonight. So that it is available by Friday and most folks are heading up north. The only change from the preview on Tuesday is that there is a chance for showers on Saturday as well as Sunday. High temperatures are still in the lower to mid 70s for the weekend.

The computer models and HPC are looking somewhat consistant with the forecast for Friday through Sunday. The main things is that a front moves through Thursday night and then high pressure builds in. Sunday, another front moves in and brings the rain. Friday and Saturday are looking like partly sunny days with the chance of rain showers on Sunday.  High temperatures are expected to be in lower to mid 70s on each day.
